Backrest Test
The comfort expected in an automobile these days transforms a car seat into a multi-functional assembly. Innumerable electrical adjustment possibilities of a backrest and seating adjustments as well as the seat heater are generally standard in any automobile. In the luxury class, one might even be confronted with massage functions, etc.
As early as the base frame phase with its installed actuators and sensors, a comprehensive test becomes necessary, as at this stage and condition, repairs can be carried out in a relatively simple manner. The seat frame is locked into the test system with special adaptations and is electrically connected to the tester via manual adaptors.
The test and all evaluations as well as the communication with the user are carried out by the function test system. Together with the testing software CS WIN, you have a wide spectrum of features available, from individual project development up to quality data entry and integration in a Local Area Network (LAN).
Test Task
Inspection of all electrical and electronic-mechanical functions found in a seat.
Areas of Application
Nowadays, the function test of seat frames including numerous electrical and electronic components is of course, not only required in the automotive industry. Electrical and electronic components make seating more comfortable, wherever products for comfortable traveling and seating (in busses, trains, agricultural and constructional machinery) are produced, and in turn this calls for respective function tests.
Features
- Testing of different variants of electrical arm-rests or complete backrests
- Compliance to the tolerance through recording of the current curve
- Initiators automatically recognize whether a backrest has reached its intended final position
- After wiring the clamping jaw, one side of the adjustment device is detached (according to the unit under test) and released as a movable bearing
- All elements belonging to the locking device are adjustable for the setting mode
- Movement of the backrest takes place with the backrest?s own drive
- The test system makes sure that the backrest motor is only activated, if the manual adaptor is correctly connected
Exemplary Test Run
Before recording the current curve, a reciprocation of the backrest takes place to break the lacquer at the joints, it is then that the actual adjustment test takes place. No immediate power intake takes place via the power sensors. A power equivalent concerning the flow of current is recorded and displayed on the monitor. Final and interim positions are monitored by the initiators. At the same time, an inspection of the adjustment times takes place to ensure that the backrests reach their intended position within a given time period.
For a SPC Test, a defined weight can be hung on the backrest. The test system automatically recognizes the weight and loads the corresponding testing program.
